Corruption is not a disease of a society. Instead, it is a symptom of a society that has many diseases. Corruption in Nepal seems to be rising every year and there is no plan to stop it. We cannot literally stop it and it is inescapable. We may not be able to get rid of corruption even the entire corrupted systems are overthrown because once they are overthrown, next system will be generated and will start again. It is just a damn automated system.
Nepal is the third most corrupt countries in South Asia according to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2015 published by TI. And there was one report published by the Transparency Investigation in Nagarik News. It was about the most corrupt offices in Nepal.
The Transparency International in Nepal did a survey in 12 different Government offices from 9 districts. Most of the corruption was found in government offices located in Village Development Committees.
Here is the list provided by them and was posted on Nagarik News.
1. Land Revenue Offices
2. District Development Committee
3. Department of Transport Management
4. Nepal Electricity Authority
5. Survey Department
6. District Administration Office
7. District Education Office
8. District Police
9. Inland Revenue Department
10. Government Hospitals and Health Organizations
11. Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL)
12. District Agriculture Development Office
13. Department of Forests
Do you think it will stop ever? That feeling of insecurity, not being satisfied from what we earn, they all come from our society. We comfort in blaming others. It is the system that we created a long time ago.
