Three Indians were arrested in Florida for beating a woman severely and keeping her 1-year-old child captive in her own house, the authorities said.
Silky Gaind, a 33-year-old wife and a mother, was found severely beaten and bruised all over her body by her husband Devbir Kalsi, when police raided Kalsi’s house in Riverview on Saturday morning.
Not only did the husband beat his wife, but he also called his parents from India to United States to beat his wife and teach her how to be obedient to her husband, the authorities said.
Devbir called his father Kasbir Kalsi, 67, and mother, Bhupinder Kalsi, 61, to United States from India because he wanted to “counsel and discipline” his wife Gaind.
Gaind had been tolerating physical abuse from his husband and his parents. She had called her parents in India that she was in serious abusive relationship. But she never called the authorities in United States because of Indian cultural traditions, according to According to the report in Tampa Bay Times.
After the police got a phone call about a woman being abused and kept captive with 1-year-old baby inside the house, they immediately raided the house where the woman, her husband, and their 1-year-old child lived.
The police knocked at the door for several times, but nobody answered. Then the police heard Silky screaming for her safety and her baby. They had no choice except use force to enter the house.
It was a shocking revelation of brutal abuse that had been going around for sometime in the house. When the police found Gaind, they saw horrendous bruises all over Silky’s body. So they arrested the husband but then his parents intervened. They were also later arrested.
